As an author, artist, board-certified mental health coach, and registered nurse, I am overjoyed to share the exciting news of my debut novel, When Darkness Sings – Redemption’s Melody, released in January 2025. Writing has been a lifelong dream, sparked when I won first place in my fourth-grade class for best story. The grand prize? A Christmas ornament that still hangs proudly on my tree each year. My teacher, Ms. Barley, may never have realized the dream she instilled in me when she called my name as the winner, but that moment planted a seed in my heart.
In middle school, I was asked to write a “Dear Donna” advice column for the school paper, dreaming I’d become the next “Dear Abby.” By high school, I couldn’t wait to get to my creative writing class—a safe haven where I could lose myself in the magic of words and stories. That year, I was honored with the Most Creative Writing award. While these milestones may seem small, they were pivotal. They lit the flame of my passion to write and showed me the power of encouragement.
Someone believed in me, and that belief changed everything. It’s a reminder of how powerful our words can be. One kind word of encouragement can spark a dream and inspire someone to step into their destiny.
Little did I know, my first novel would come many years later, shaped by life’s lessons, challenges, and triumphs. When Darkness Sings – Redemption’s Melody is a story of brokenness and healing, inspired by the experiences many women face—whether through their own choices or circumstances beyond their control.
Beyond writing, my passion is to minister to women about the truth of God’s love so that trauma from their past doesn’t rob them of their future. Through my work as a nurse, mental health coach, and artist, I have walked alongside women facing some of life’s deepest struggles. My greatest calling is to offer hope and healing—reminding women that their past, no matter how painful, does not have to define their future.
